Gifts for book lovers under $10
Do not buy a reader a book. You do not know what they have read, what they are mid-way through, or which edition they want.
Dragon Stained Glass Bookmark
Dragon, stained glass, under nine dollars. The default answer for a fantasy reader.
Magical Book Bookmark
A glowing open book. The most on-the-nose option here, and it works anyway.
Northern Lights Forest Bookmark for Book…
Aurora over a forest. Zero genre signal, which makes it the safest pick on the list.

Floral Kitten Bookmark$8.99
Moon Wolf Bookmark - Mystical Wolf and Moon…$8.99 on Etsy
Pink Tourmaline Bookmark$8.99Why a bookmark beats the obvious options
A reader already owns a tote bag and a candle. What they do not own is a bookmark they actually like, because bookmarks are the thing nobody buys for themselves. Ask a reader what they are currently using and the honest answer is a receipt, a boarding pass, or another book.
It is also the rare gift that gets used daily, costs under ten dollars, fits in a card, and does not require knowing anything about their taste in plot.
How to pick without knowing what they read
Three safe routes. Match the pet instead of the genre. Match the aesthetic you have seen on their shelf, warm and cozy or dark and gothic. Or go abstract: a landscape, an aurora, a moon, nothing that commits to a genre.
Add the protector sleeve if you want it to look considered. It costs a couple of dollars and signals you thought about the thing lasting.
One thing to avoid
Skip anything with a quote on it. Reading taste is specific and a quote is a claim about it. A design is a gift, a quote is an opinion.
Most of what is on this page comes from one shop, bookmarks for fantasy readers, which is where we ended up after a few years of buying these.
