Percy Jackson and the Riordanverse reading order

Rick Riordan · 20 books

The short answer

Percy Jackson and the Olympians first, all five. Then Heroes of Olympus. The Kane Chronicles and Magnus Chase sit alongside and can go anywhere after. Trials of Apollo goes after Heroes of Olympus.

Tick them off as you go
  1. The Lightning Thief2005
  2. The Sea of Monsters2006
  3. The Titan's Curse2007
  4. The Battle of the Labyrinth2008
  5. The Last Olympian2009

Why the order is argued about

The Riordanverse is three mythologies running in parallel with crossovers, and the published order does not match the internal chronology. The simple rule: finish Percy Jackson, then Heroes of Olympus, then Trials of Apollo. Slot Kane and Magnus in wherever you like, as long as Magnus Chase comes before The Tyrant's Tomb.

Reading the crossover novellas, Demigods and Magicians, requires having read both Percy Jackson and Kane. They are short and skippable.
